Continental AG said June 15 that it opened a new combined production and storage facility at its plant in Trutnov, Czech Republic.
The expansion has a total area of 8,000 square meters, including 3,000 square meters of floor space for production that uses advanced robotics and automation and another 2,220 square meters for storage space.
The German auto parts maker added that the expansion created 200 jobs. It now employs 2,000 workers at the site.
Continental said nine new production lines at its existing Trutnov plant chiefly cater to an increasing demand for nitrogen oxide sensors, which can detect the chemical compound in the exhaust fumes of a vehicle.
