SSE picks MHI Vestas to supply turbines for Scottish offshore wind farm

SSE Renewables Ltd. has selected MHI Vestas Offshore Wind A/S to supply wind turbines for its 1,075-MW Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland.

Seagreen secured a 15-year power contract in September from the U.K. government at a strike price of £41.61/MWh. The contract for difference represents 454 MW or 42% of the project's total capacity, according to an Oct. 17 news release.

MHI Vestas is a joint venture between Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. SSE Renewables is a unit of SSE PLC.
