EnBW completes 497-MW offshore wind farm in Germany

Germany-based electric utility EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG has completed the construction of its 497-MW Hohe See offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The wind project features 71 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA turbines, of which 27 have been commissioned, according to an Aug. 13 release.

Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge Inc. owns a 49.9% stake in Hohe See, as well as the adjacent 112-MW Albatros project. EnBW, which owns 50.1% of the projects, said it will now install 16 more turbines at Albatros. Together, the two projects will generate approximately 609 MW of electricity.

Upon commencement of operations by the end of 2019, EnBW will provide operation and maintenance services for both wind farms.
