Nucor Corp. said Dec. 18 that its board approved the addition of a coil paint line at the company's sheet mill in Mississippi County, Ark., which will result in additional capacity of 250,000 tons per year.
The new coil paint line is expected to start up in the first half of 2022.
According to Jay Henderson, Nucor's vice president and general manager, the new coil paint line will diversify the company's product and market mix by having more processing capability.
"We will be able to compete in new markets, such as roofing and siding, light fixtures and appliances, as well as strengthen our existing market position in HVAC, garage doors and service centers," Henderson said.
