TurningPoint Energy and Navisun LLC will construct two 5-MW AC solar projects in Pittsylvania County, Va., according to a Dec. 17 announcement.

Construction of the Irish Road and Whitmell solar power plants is expected to start by the end of the year, with commissioning targeted for summer next year.

Danville Utilities, an electric municipal utility, will purchase the output of the two facilities under power purchase agreements.

TurningPoint Energy developed the projects while Navisun will finance, build, own and operate them.
