Report: Banco Itapúa, Financiera Rio resume merger talks

Talks for a potential merger between Paraguay's Banco Itapúa S.A.E.C.A. and Financiera Rio SA have resumed, 5 días reported citing sources from both banks.

Discussions to combine the two banks reportedly stalled on Dec. 18, 2018. However, the banks have resolved issues to allow talks to push ahead, the newspaper said.

Any potential deal would still need approval from Paraguay's banking regulator.

If the two were to merge, the combined bank would have some US$519.7 million in total assets and US$398.2 million in total deposits.
