Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's luxury car brand Maserati said Sept. 26 that all of the company's new models will be entirely developed and manufactured in Italy.
The Italian carmaker said the new models will be equipped with either hybrid or battery electric propulsion systems and will be produced at its Modena, Cassino and Turin facilities.
The first of the new models is a sports car that will be produced at the Modena plant, which recently received upgrades. A new utility vehicle, on the other hand, will be manufactured at Cassino with the rollout of the first pre-series cars expected by 2021. New, electrified versions of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio models will be produced at the Turin facility.
A paint shop and customization facility are also being built at the Modena plant, the carmaker added.
The move is in line with Fiat Chrysler's industrial plan, which was announced in 2018, to boost production in Italian facilities.
In July, the company also announced a plan to invest €700 million to produce an updated and electrified version of the Fiat 500 at its Mirafiori plant.
