The New York Times published a confidential memo produced by Murray Energy Corp. for the Trump administration outlining a series of suggested policy changes intended to aid the U.S. coal industry.
According to a Jan. 9 report, the 14-point "Action Plan for the Administration of President Donald J. Trump" memo was addressed to Vice President Mike Pence and obtained by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., who shared it with the publication. While some of the items on the list remain unaccomplished, the Times report said the memo shows the closeness between Murray and the Trump administration.
Murray CEO Robert Murray was a vocal supporter and financial backer of Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. Murray has addressed many of the items included in the action plan in earlier interviews and speeches.
