L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. said its second-quarter normalized net income amounted to $2.18 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $2.02 per share.
EPS climbed 32.2% year over year from $1.65.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $173.1 million, a gain of 34.1% from $129.1 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 6.3% from 4.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased year over year to $2.73 billion from $2.66 billion, and total operating expenses came to $2.41 billion, compared with $2.41 billion in the year-earlier period.
Reported net income rose 37.0% year over year to $201.9 million, or $2.54 per share, from $147.4 million, or $1.88 per share.
