Euronext sees YOY surge in May average daily transaction value

Euronext NV recorded an average daily transaction value on its cash order book of about €8.47 billion in May, up 42.8% from a year earlier and 0.2% from April.

Activity on exchange-traded funds recorded an average daily transaction value of €548 million in May, up 22.5% from May 2016 and steady compared to the previous month. Euronext recorded 809 ETF listings at May-end, compared to 790 at 2016-end.

The average daily volume on equity index derivatives stood at 222,863 contracts, up 14.1% from May 2016. The ADV on individual equity derivatives reached 260,315 contracts, up 39.0% from the same month a year ago, while the ADV on commodities derivatives fell 10.1% year over year to 34,968 contracts.

On a year-to-date basis, the overall ADV on Euronext derivatives stood at 531,605 contracts, up 1.6% from the end of May 2016.
