Syrah strikes first deal to supply coarse graphite flake to China

Syrah Resources Ltd. reached a binding, 12-month sales agreement with Qingdao Freyr Graphite Co. Ltd. for 6,000 tonnes of large coarse flake natural graphite from the Balama project in Mozambique.

Syrah Managing Director and CEO Shaun Verner said that the contract represents more than 10% of planned flake production of that size over the coming year.

Additionally, the company said Nov. 12 that it produced 98% fixed-carbon grade graphite and secured its first spot sale to a Japanese customer.

Earlier this month, the company entered a binding deal to supply 20,000 tonnes of natural graphite from Balama.
