East Kentucky Power Cooperative Inc. is seeking term offers for coal to supply its Spurlock Power Station for the Gilbert unit 3 and Spurlock unit 4.
East Kentucky Power issued a request for proposals June 13 for contract deliveries of up to 50,000 tons of coal per month beginning July 1, for a term of up to three months. The utility said it will consider all fuel options.
The utility is seeking coal spec'd at a minimum 9,000 Btu/lb and maximums of 30% ash and 10 lb SO2/MMBtu, all on an "as received" basis.
The plant receives coal by barge on the Ohio River at milepost 414.1 or by rail at Charleston Bottoms, Ky., via CSX Transportation Inc. or TTI Railroad.
