Hudbay Minerals Inc. terminated a deal to acquire up to a 70% interest in Southern Hemisphere Mining Ltd.'s Llahuin copper-gold project in Chile, according to the latter's Aug. 6 release.
The Australia-listed explorer said Hudbay had been in discussions with Mina Punta del Cobre, which owns the Espino deposit located 8 kilometers south of Llahuin, potentially advancing a regional strategy.
Southern Hemisphere now plans to hold talks with Punta del Cobre to possibly merge both projects.
