Ensuiko Sugar Refining Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥4.56 per share, a gain of 12.6% from ¥4.05 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥122.5 million, a gain of 12.6% from ¥108.8 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 1.8% from 1.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue fell year over year to ¥6.84 billion from ¥7.08 billion, and total operating expenses fell from the prior-year period to ¥6.69 billion from ¥6.89 billion.
Reported net income grew 36.5% year over year to ¥131.0 million, or ¥4.88 per share, from ¥96.0 million, or ¥3.57 per share.
As of Aug. 8, US$1 was equivalent to ¥101.85.
