About 99% of unionized workers at Antofagasta Plc's Los Pelambres copper mine in Chile voted in favor of a strike after rejecting the company's latest collective labor deal, Mining.com reported March 9.
The union, Federación Minera de Chile, has 447 members. The parties will now engage in government-mediated talks to resolve the wage dispute.
Another workers' union at the Los Pelambres mill has already reached an agreement with the miner, Reuters said in a same-day report.
