HSBC Holdings Plc on Jan. 31 announced the promotion of Joe Gordon to head its online and telephone banking business, First Direct, the Financial Times reported the same day.

Gordon, whose appointment has received regulatory approval, replaces Tracy Garrad, who will become head of HSBC in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, according to the report.

Gordon was head of contact centers handling customer queries at HSBC since January 2015, the FT noted. Prior to that, he served at telecommunications group BT and retailer J Sainsbury.
