Lowe's Cos. Inc. said May 29 that it will remove paint removal products with toxic chemicals from its product selection by the end of the year.
The home improvement retailer will phase out paint removers with methylene chloride and N-methylpyrrolidone as part of its broader commitment to offer customers safer options.
Lowe's also plans to collaborate with the Environmental Protection Authority on a consistent regulatory standard across the industry. The company said it has worked with vendors to improve labeling on packaging to better communicate the proper use of the chemicals, along with product safety guidelines and instructions on Lowes.com.
