Lifetime's head of programming departs

Liz Gateley is stepping down from her role as head of programming for A+E Networks' Lifetime Television (US) to focus on her family, Variety reported, citing a memo sent to Gateley's staff.

The network promoted Tanya Lopez to executive vice president of movies, limited series and original movie acquisitions for Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network. Lopez previously served as senior vice president of original movies for Lifetime.

Additionally, Gena McCarthy will now serve as executive vice president and head of programming for Lifetime Unscripted and head of programming for fyi, in addition to her role as executive vice president of programming for fyi. She was previously Lifetime's senior vice president of reality and alternative programming.

Meanwhile, Joanna Klein will continue to manage Lifetime's scripted series.

A+E Networks is a joint venture of Walt Disney Co.'s Disney-ABC Television Group and Hearst Corp.
