Apple awards additional $250M to Corning

Apple Inc. is awarding Corning Inc. with an additional $250 million to support the company's research and development into glass processes, equipment and materials.

Corning supplies glass to Apple for products such as the iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad. The iPhone maker previously awarded $200 million to Corning in May 2017.

To date, Apple has invested more than $1 billion in American companies from its Advanced Manufacturing Fund and 20% of the $5 billion it subsequently committed to spend.
