NutriSystem Q3 profit climbs YOY

NutriSystem Inc. said its third-quarter normalized net income came to 26 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 28 cents per share.

In the prior-year period, the per-share result came in at a profit of 26 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $7.7 million, compared with $7.7 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 6.8% from 7.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 18.8% year over year to $124.6 million from $104.9 million, and total operating expenses grew 21.3% on an annual basis to $112.2 million from $92.5 million.

Reported net income grew 9.3% from the prior-year period to $8.0 million, or 27 cents per share, from $7.3 million, or 25 cents per share.
