CGI Group Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, amounted to 72 Canadian cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 83 cents per share.
EPS climbed 15.0% year over year from 63 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was C$227.5 million, a gain of 13.6% from C$200.3 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 8.5% from 7.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 5.6% year over year to C$2.68 billion from C$2.54 billion, and total operating expenses increased from the prior-year period to C$2.30 billion from C$2.20 billion.
Reported net income totaled C$237.2 million, or 75 cents per share, compared to C$236.9 million, or 74 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
