Arch Coal appoints chief commercial officer

Arch Coal Inc.'s board of directors elected Paul Demzik as chief commercial officer, effective immediately, the company said in a Jan. 2 news release.

Demzik previously served as head of thermal coal trading at Anglo American PLC for five years and president of Peabody Coaltrade International (CTI) LLC for seven years. He will report to President and COO Paul Lang.

Kenneth Cochran stepped down as Arch's senior vice president of operations Dec. 31, 2018, as part of his retirement package, according to a Jan. 2 SEC filing.
