Kering SA on Sept. 24 said its entire group operations and supply chain will become carbon neutral as part of its sustainability efforts.
The luxury goods conglomerate, which owns the Gucci, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen businesses, said it will offset the group's annual greenhouse gas emissions from 2018 "on top of all efforts to first avoid and then reduce them."
Kering said the commitment to full carbon neutrality is part of its annual offsetting approach that has been in place since 2011.
According to the release, the company uses a proprietary environmental profit and loss accounting system to analyze its greenhouse gas emissions up to the base of the supply chain, where the raw materials are created. The data gathered using this system allows the group to carry out customized measures to cut down emissions.
