SoftBank Ventures Korea to change name

SOFTBANK Ventures Korea Inc., a South Korean unit of Japan-based SoftBank Group Corp., will change its name to SoftBank Ventures Asia Inc. to better represent its focus on investing in Asian startups, The Chosun Ilbo reported Jan. 3.

Since its establishment in 2000, SoftBank Ventures Korea has made investments in about 250 startups in South Korea, China, and the U.S., among other countries. The company has approximately 1 trillion won of assets under management.

SoftBank Ventures Korea recently launched the US$300 million China Ventures Fund.
