WGL completes 6-MW solar facility in Virginia

WGL Energy Systems and solar development and finance company Sol Systems on May 23 announced the completion of the 6-MW AC Kentuck solar facility in Pittsylvania County, Va.

Construction of the facility started in May 2017, and now the $10 million project is capable of powering 1,200 homes yearly, according to a WGL Energy news release.

WGL Energy owns and operates the project while Sol Systems has overseen the design, construction and financing of the system. The City of Danville, Va., Department of Utilities has a 25-year contract to purchase the output of the facility.

WGL Energy Systems is a subsidiary of WGL Holdings Inc.
