Kao Corp. said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter came to ¥67.83 per share, compared with ¥67.68 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥34.05 billion, compared with ¥33.97 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin fell to 8.3% from 8.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose year over year to ¥409.31 billion from ¥394.46 billion, and total operating expenses rose year over year to ¥355.17 billion from ¥342.11 billion.
Reported net income rose 6.0% on an annual basis to ¥30.66 billion, or ¥61.07 per share, from ¥28.92 billion, or ¥57.62 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥209.50 per share, an increase of 24.2% from ¥168.65 per share in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥105.18 billion, a rise of 22.4% from ¥85.91 billion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue rose from the prior-year period to ¥1.472 trillion from ¥1.402 trillion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to ¥1.307 trillion from ¥1.268 trillion.
The company said reported net income increased 24.2% on an annual basis to ¥98.86 billion, or ¥196.92 per share, in the full year, from ¥79.59 billion, or ¥156.24 per share.
