Seven & i Holdings fiscal Q2 profit falls YOY

Seven & i Holdings Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 31 came to ¥59.99 per share, a decrease from ¥60.66 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥53.08 billion, a decline from ¥53.63 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 3.5% from 3.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 6.2% year over year to ¥1.532 trillion from ¥1.443 trillion, and total operating expenses climbed 6.7% from the prior-year period to ¥1.443 trillion from ¥1.352 trillion.

Reported net income decreased from the prior-year period to ¥44.37 billion, or ¥50.14 per share, from ¥45.91 billion, or ¥51.92 per share.

As of Oct. 10, US$1 was equivalent to ¥107.98.
