China Distance Education Holdings Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended March 31 amounted to 3 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 4 cents per share.
EPS declined 9.1% year over year from 3 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $960,630, a decrease of 5.5% from $1.0 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 4.3% from 5.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 22.4% year over year to $22.3 million from $18.2 million, and total operating expenses increased 21.1% on an annual basis to $21.5 million from $17.7 million.
Reported net income rose on an annual basis to $1.3 million, or 3 cents per share, from $1.2 million, or 4 cents per share.
