Resolute Mining Ltd. entered into a strategic framework agreement with Sweden-based Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology to fully automate underground operations at the company's Syama gold mine in Mali.
The automated system, including automated trucks and electrical loads, is scheduled for commissioning near the end of 2018, Sandvik said June 11.
The life of the Syama mine was extended to beyond 2028 following its move to underground mining.
The mine hosts total underground indicated and inferred resources of 55.9 million tonnes at 3.2 g/t gold for 5.7 million gold ounces using a cutoff grade of 1.5 g/t gold.
