Total U.S. nuclear plant availability continued to advance, topping 95% to 95.67% as of early Dec. 4, up from 94.69% on Dec. 1 and higher than the 92.15% reported on the same day in 2016.
Total production rose as Vistra Energy Corp.'s Comanche Peak 2 reactor in Texas increased to 100%, up from 48% on Dec. 1. The reactor was recently restarted after being manually tripped Nov. 25 "due to a loss of main feedwater."
Output at American Electric Power Co. Inc.'s Donald C. Cook 1 unit in Michigan increased to 100% as of early Dec. 4 from 85% on Dec. 1.
Entergy Corp.'s Grand Gulf 1 in Mississippi was pegged at 12% as of early Dec. 4. The reactor had been offline.
