Grupa Zywiec Q1 loss narrows YOY

Grupa Zywiec SA said its first-quarter normalized net income was a loss of 32 groszy per share, compared with a loss of 3.26 zlotys per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of 3.2 million zlotys, compared with a loss of 33.5 million zlotys in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to negative 0.5% from negative 5.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue fell 5.0% on an annual basis to 602.5 million zlotys from 634.1 million zlotys, and total operating expenses declined 10.7% from the prior-year period to 604.1 million zlotys from 676.5 million zlotys.

Reported net income came to a loss of 4.1 million zlotys, or a loss of 40 groszy per share, compared to a loss of 42.2 million zlotys, or a loss of 4.10 zlotys per share, in the year-earlier period.

As of April 22, US$1 was equivalent to 3.72 zlotys.
