Banca Carige shareholders vote for legal action against former directors

Banca Carige SpA's ordinary shareholders authorized the bank to pursue a liability action against former directors Piero Luigi Montani, Cesare Castelbarco Albani and Giovanni Alberto Berneschi.

The ordinary shareholders' meeting on March 28 also confirmed the appointment of Giuseppe Pericu and Massimo Pezzolo to the bank's board of directors after they were co-opted by the board in October 2016 and February 2017, respectively.

Earlier, a court in Genoa sentenced former Banca Carige SpA Chairman Giovanni Berneschi to eight years and two months in prison for fraud, money laundering and criminal association.
