EBay expands authentication service to luxury watches

EBay Inc. said Sept. 5 that it is expanding its authentication service to its luxury watch offerings.

The eBay Authenticate program was launched in October 2017 and initially started with authentication services for luxury handbags on eBay.com.

The e-commerce company said third-party authentication experts will verify pre-owned, vintage and new watches on its online marketplace. Authenticated items will be marked with an "Authenticity Verified" label.

Luxury watches sold on eBay include brands from Rolex SA and Omega SA; Compagnie Financière Richemont SA's Panerai and Jaeger-LeCoultre Breitling SA; Patek Philippe SA, Audemars Piguet Holding SA and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE's Hublot.
