Tree House Education & Accessories fiscal Q2 profit climbs 11.0% YOY

Tree House Education & Accessories Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was 3.21 Indian rupees per share, an increase of 10.7% from 2.90 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 120.8 million rupees, an increase of 11.0% from 108.8 million rupees in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 24.3% from 26.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 20.5% year over year to 497.6 million rupees from 412.9 million rupees, and total operating expenses grew 16.7% on an annual basis to 264.2 million rupees from 226.3 million rupees.

Reported net income grew 9.7% from the prior-year period to 125.8 million rupees, or 3.35 rupees per share, from 114.7 million rupees, or 3.06 rupees per share.

As of Dec. 15, US$1 was equivalent to 63.46 Indian rupees.
