Dechra buys veterinary contract manufacturer for $30M

Dechra Pharmaceuticals PLC acquired Fort Worth, Texas-based Ampharmco LLC for $30 million in cash.

Ampharmco is a veterinary contract manufacturer that specializes in companion animal products. The company has two U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved veterinary generic products, one of which is being marketed by Dechra.

The transaction includes Ampharmco's associated holding companies, Dragon Fire Holdings LLC and Black Griffin Holdings LLC, along with the company's manufacturing site in Fort Worth, Texas.

U.K.-based Dechra said the acquisition adds in-house manufacturing for its outsourced products in the U.S. market and expand the company's portfolio of approved companion animal products.
