Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd.'s first-half aluminum output tumbled more than 8% yearly to 1.89 million tonnes as alumina production rose 3.2% to 6.82 million tonnes, Reuters reported Aug. 27, citing a company presentation to analysts.
Average aluminum sales during the period slipped 4% to 13,778 Chinese yuan per ton, the report said, noting that the company, also known as Chalco, did not immediately confirm the data.
In the first half, Chalco posted an attributable first-half net profit of 705.8 million Chinese yuan, or 3.5 fen per share, dropping from 821.6 million yuan, or 4.6 fen per share, recorded a year ago.
As of Aug. 27, US$1 was equivalent to 7.16 yuan.
