McDonald's Corp. on Sept. 24 introduced a voice-initiated job application process that allows candidates to use voice assistants like Amazon.com Inc.'s Alexa and Google LLC's Google Assistant to apply for a job at the U.S. fast-food giant.
The voice-initiated service called Apply Thru is part of McDonald's global hiring campaign that aims to drive job applications worldwide. Job seekers can activate the service on Amazon Alexa by saying "Alexa, help me get a job at McDonald's."
Meanwhile, Google Assistant users need to say "OK Google, talk to McDonald's Apply Thru" to launch the process for now as the feature is still being developed for the platform.
Applicants need to answer a few basic questions such as name, job area of interest and location to complete the initial process. They will then receive a text message with a link to complete the application online.
The service is available on Alexa and Google Assistant devices in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the U.K., and is expected to expand to other countries in the coming months.
