Hanesbrands appoints new chairman

Apparel maker Hanesbrands Inc. said March 12 it appointed Ronald Nelson as board chairman, effective April 23.

Nelson, a lead director of the North Carolina-based company, will succeed Richard Noll, who is set to retire from his role. Noll was Hanesbrands' CEO from 2006 to 2016 and has been nonexecutive chairman since 2018.

Nelson's appointment as chairman is subject to re-election to the board at the company's annual shareholder meeting April 23.
