Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Jan. 30 came to $1.79 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.61 per share.
EPS climbed 26.3% year over year from $1.41.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $42.9 million, a gain of 26.6% from $33.9 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 5.7% from 4.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew 8.2% year over year to $756.0 million from $698.5 million, and total operating expenses increased 6.7% on an annual basis to $682.6 million from $639.8 million.
Reported net income increased 26.8% on an annual basis to $47.1 million, or $1.96 per share, from $37.2 million, or $1.55 per share.
