Report: Liberty Global, ITV among those mulling Endemol Shine offer

Liberty Global PLC, ITV PLC, RTL Group unit FremantleMedia Ltd. and Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. are considering to submit separate bids for Endemol Shine Group Ltd., Reuters reported July 4, citing sources.

Endemol Shine is said to be looking for a price between €2.5 billion and €3 billion. However, bids may only be between €2 billion and €2.5 billion, according to the report, citing a banker.

The media company reportedly began exploring a sale of the company in June, tapping Deutsche Bank and Liontree. Endemol Shine owners 21st Century Fox Inc. and Apollo Global Management have agreed to sell their stakes once a buyer has been found.

A person close to an unnamed potential buyer told Reuters that they are both "interested" and "skeptical," reportedly calling Endemol Shine "financially weak."

The Dutch company has substantial amount of debt and went through a round of cost cutting, in addition to its ageing formats, the report said, citing the source.

Endemol Shine's content portfolio includes "Black Mirror," "MasterChef," "Big Brother" and "Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown."
