FERC clears Xcel Energy's acquisition of Colo. gas-fired plant

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has cleared Public Service Co. of Colorado's planned acquisition of the Manchief gas-fired generating station in Morgan County, Colo., with a nameplate capacity of 301 MW.

The Xcel Energy Inc. subsidiary will purchase the facility from Atlantic Power Corp. for $45.2 million, as the parties announced May 28.

Public Service Co. of Colorado buys the output of the plant under a 10-year power purchase agreement set to expire in April 2022.

Closing of the deal is still subject to certain other conditions, including approval from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. (FERC docket EC19-118)
