The U.K. Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Boston Scientific Corp. in a patent infringement case against Edwards Lifesciences Corp.
The British court dismissed an appeal by Edwards Lifesciences and upheld a March 2017 court ruling that Edwards Lifesciences' Sapien 3 transcatheter heart valve infringed on a Boston Scientific patent and that all claims of that patent are valid.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office previously favored in favor of Edwards Lifesciences earlier in March 2018 in an inter partes review of Boston Scientific's claims regarding its transcatheter heart valve.
Boston Scientific plans to appeal the patent agency's finding.
Marlborough, Mass.-based Boston Scientific had filed a patent case against Irvine, Calif.-based Edwards Lifesciences in Delaware in 2016.
