Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, was 91 Indian paise per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 1.24 rupees per share.
EPS decreased 15.5% year over year from 1.08 rupees.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 1.82 billion rupees, a decrease of 15.4% from 2.15 billion rupees in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin dropped to 2.0% from 2.7% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 13.4% year over year to 89.50 billion rupees from 78.90 billion rupees, and total operating expenses climbed 13.5% from the prior-year period to 83.33 billion rupees from 73.41 billion rupees.
Reported net income increased from the prior-year period to 2.54 billion rupees, or 1.28 rupees per share, from 2.50 billion rupees, or 1.26 rupees per share.
As of Feb. 10, US$1 was equivalent to 62.38 Indian rupees.
