Tobu Store fiscal Q1 profit climbs 16.1% YOY

Tobu Store Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended May 31 amounted to ¥40.39 per share, a gain of 16.1% from ¥34.77 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥274.4 million, an increase of 16.1% from ¥236.3 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 1.3% from 1.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose year over year to ¥21.25 billion from ¥20.39 billion, and total operating expenses increased year over year to ¥20.89 billion from ¥20.08 billion.

Reported net income increased year over year to ¥239.0 million, or ¥35.18 per share, from ¥40.0 million, or ¥5.89 per share.

As of July 11, US$1 was equivalent to ¥101.30.
