British television presenter Noel Edmonds has secured a seven-figure litigation funding package to fight a legal case against Lloyds Banking Group Plc, relating to the collapse of his business and fraud in the Reading, England, HBOS Plc branch, City A.M. reported Jan. 31.
Therium Capital Management Ltd, a U.K.-based company specializing in funding expensive legal cases, has agreed to fund Edmonds' lawsuit.
Edmonds, the former presenter of "Deal or No Deal" and "Top of the Pops," claims the Reading scam destroyed his Unique Group business between 2003 and 2007.
Reports suggested he was seeking damages of as much as £300 million, although a Dec. 12, 2017, Sky News report cited insiders as saying the claim was for just under £70 million.
His lawyers had offered to settle his claim for £10 million, but the bank rejected this, Sky News reported.
