UPS Inc. said its normalized net income for the third quarter was $1.33 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.37 per share.
EPS increased 5.0% year over year from $1.27.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $1.20 billion, a gain from $1.17 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 8.4% from 8.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue totaled $14.24 billion, compared with $14.29 billion in the prior-year period, and total operating expenses totaled $12.24 billion, compared with $12.36 billion in the year-earlier period.
Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to $1.26 billion, or $1.39 per share, from $1.22 billion, or $1.32 per share.
