Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income was $4.02 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $3.65 per share.
EPS increased 46.9% year over year from $2.74.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $127.0 million, an increase of 47.4% from $86.2 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 11.7% from 9.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 20.4% year over year to $1.09 billion from $904.2 million, and total operating expenses increased 15.7% year over year to $887.0 million from $767.0 million.
Reported net income increased 47.5% on an annual basis to $122.6 million, or $3.88 per share, from $83.1 million, or $2.64 per share.
