A Uruguayan judge sentenced the former president of Banco de la República Oriental del Uruguay, Fernando Calloia, to 20 months in prison for official misconduct over irregularities in the granting of a loan by the state-run bank to Spain-based airline company Cosmo, El País reported.
Uruguay's former economy minister, Fernando Lorenzo, who had previously been implicated in the case, was acquitted.
As part of the charges, Calloia will not be able to hold a public post for two years, the report noted.
