FortisAlberta gets approval to buy small electric distribution system

FortisAlberta Inc. has received the approval of the Council of the Town of Fort Macleod, Alberta, to purchase the town's electricity distribution system for C$4.77 million.

Subject to the authorization of the Alberta Utilities Commission, the transfer and sale of the distribution system will enable residents of the town to receive FortisAlberta's 24/7 customer care center, centralized operations control center, and robust storm and outage response services.

FortisAlberta is an electric distribution subsidiary of Fortis Inc.
