Pakistan Petroleum announces Sindh province discovery

Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. announced Aug. 13 that it had discovered natural gas and condensate at an exploratory well drilled in the country's Sindh province.

The company began drilling the well on June 22 and reached a final depth of 2,720 meters on July 10.

Initial testing results confirm commercial quantities of hydrocarbons at the Yasar X-1 well located in the company's wholly-operated Kotri Block in the Sujjawal district of Sindh, showing a flow rate of 3.2 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and 475 barrels per day of condensate at a 32/64-inch choke.

The company said it is still flowing gas through the well at different choke sizes to determine the actual flow potential of the well.
